I had to go back to the tire place I bought tires at yesterday because one caught a nail already (THAT HAS TO BE A FUCKING RECORD)... and they said they would patch it for free!
Now, while I was waiting in line, this skinny blonde girl who was probably a sophomore in college was paying for new wheels and tires for her Mini Cooper S. The guy who put the wheels on pointed out to her to get her motor mounts checked and her response left me speechless.
Mechanic- "Ma'am you may want to get your motor mounts checked. I think at least one is broken."
Girl- "What's a motor mount?"
Mech- "It holds your motor to your car."
G- "Okay, I'll get it checked when I get my oil changed."
M- "When is that going to be?"
Girl- "I don't know, probably when the light on the dashboard telling me to change the oil comes on!"
Me and Mechanic- *facepalm*
Me to mechanic- "Um, that was interesting..."
Mech- "Yeah, that's also not the first time something like that has happened...This is the usual response from people like her."

The place where I get my tires has the best prices around. They charge $15 for a warranty like service. Free plugs/patches for the life of the tires and free tire rotation. I think the tire rotation is included in all their tires though.
Anyway, I get more flats than anyone I know. The only time I haven't is when I paid the $15. I just plug them myself now. Had to get one patch but it was about $8 so I figured it was ok to not spend $16

I got these at a used tire place for $45 a piece mounted and balanced... I think these were off of a 2012+ focus that someone decided to get different wheels and tires for because these are BRAND NEW basically...

Nice. My tires usually cost in the $100-125 range each. Will be interested to see how much the mazda runs when it's time.

sigh. Please tell me that car has an oil life readout? And she's not just waiting for the low oil pressure light.
On the other hand, my husband knows his car loses oil but he never checks the level until the light comes on. :( last time he was close enough to his next oil change that I just changed his oil.

I don't want to believe anyone's that stupid. On the other hand, a few weeks ago a car came into my work and no oil drained. None. people do bad things to innocent cars.

Oh, that's no good. Several years ago, a coworker's wife blew up her Pacifica at 50k miles. Turned out it had only had one oil change in it's life.
